The Innocent Man (Nice Guy) episode 17

Song Joong Ki as Kang Ma Roo
Eun Gi is back! And you best believe that bitch is pissed. I have to admit, though, that I am happy she has returned. I love Moon Chae Won, but I especially love her as the bitchy Eun Gi and not so much as the air-headed Eun Gi who trusted everyone. Episode 17 of The Innocent Man (Nice Guy) is all about the wrath that Eun gi is bringing back with her returned memories. At the beginning of the episode, the last scene of episode 16 was replayed, and it still gives me chills. The whole 17th episode is frightening, though.

Moon Chae Won as Seo Eun Gi

Eun Gi's act of pretending to still be the lost and sweet girl is like watching a sociopath prepare to slaughter an entire family, and this is precisely what Eun Gi has in mind. She wants to get her revenge on the Kang Ma Roo that pretended to love her as deeply as she loved him, but slapped her across the face by telling her that he would do anything to get Jae Hee back. This whole situation has my heart ripped in two. On one side, I want to say, "you go girl" to Eun Gi because she has every right not to trust Ma Roo based on the things he said and did while she was starting to fall for him. On the other side, though, my heart aches for Ma Roo. He has had such a dismal life, and fucked up his chance at being loved by Eun Gi (at least for now?). I also feel bad for Attorney Park. He tries so hard to take care of Eun Gi, but it seems that she would crush him like a bug under her heel, if necessary.

Ma Roo and Eun Gi
Now, as for that non-existent wedding, I knew right away that Eun Gi was the one who passed the story about Ma Roo and Jae Hee on to the media. I think Ma Roo knew too. His worst fear is becoming a reality as Eun Gi becomes an angry monster seeking to destroy. Clearly, to us viewers, what she believes of Ma Roo is not the case because she is his new single-minded motivation for living. The question, for me, is: will Ma Roo want to keep living now and get the surgery? I am concerned that he will choose the wrong path and do something tragic for Eun Gi's sake. As this episode ended, Ma Roo reveals to Eun Gi that he knew she remembered everything even before the wedding. From what I can tell in the preview for episode 18, the shit has hit the fan. What Ma Roo is thinking by kissing Jae Hee, I am not sure yet, but I imagine that there will be tears.

Ma Roo
Oh, and we get to see the title in the show during this episode in Eun Gi's notebook that she used while trying to regain her memories...

The nice guy never seen anywhere in the world

Full House Take 2 episodes 5-8

No Min Woo as Tae Ik gettin' naked

To start off, I want to share something that I realized about this show. At first I thought the format was a bit strange, having 4 half-hour episodes per week. I discovered, though, that each video is actually a half of a full episode. So, my first post was technically about episodes 1 and 2, parts 1 and 2, and this post is about episodes 3 and 4, parts 1 and 2. I was wondering why they replayed such a long part of the previous episode at the beginning of the next because the videos are so short it seemed like a waste of airtime, but thinking about them as parts makes a lot more sense. Now, as far as the actual content of the show, episode 3, part 1 started off on a humorous note. I did think the Islam jokes were a little overboard, but comedy is all about extremes, and if some people get a bit offended then sorry, but that's just how comedy works. The naked scene in the sauna was funny as well. Tae Ik asked Man Ok later if she saw his schlong, she said no of course. I am going to assume that she did, though. And I also want to add that even though No Min Woo has such a tall, slender body, he does look good with his shirt off.

Tae Ik and Park
In the next episode (episode 3 part 2, technically) the Take One guys hold a fan meeting and receive some ridiculous gifts from some Chinese girls. First let's talk about the jeweled mic, it was hilarious how they were both practically drooling over it, and Tae Ik was genuinely upset when it wasn't a gift for him. When I started the show last week, I found Tae Ik and Kang Hwi's petty fighting to be obnoxious, but since learning more about their personalities, I find them much more entertaining. What I can't possibly accept about this episode, though, is that someone who loves a musical idol like Tae Ik enough to make him some cat PJs wouldn't know that he ie allergic to fur. Don't those crazy fans know everything about their beloved idols? Anyway, the ugly cat pajamas lead to more drama when they are involved in the expensive missing watch scandal in episode 4 part 1.

Kang Hwi

The last episode of the week (episode 4 part 2) begins where the previous one leaves off with Take One performing. Kang Hwi's vision suddenly becomes blurry (it had happened briefly before during the fan meeting) and he stops mid-concert to try to regain his sight. When the tears started streaming from his eyes, I was like, "no!" He is so cute and sweet that I am going to hate to see him sick. Unfortunately, the last episode ends without a diagnosis from the Doctor on Kang Hwi's condition so it is still up in the air. On a lighter note, though,  it is becoming more clear that Tae Ik is interested in Man Ok more than he would like to admit. After she defends him and beats up that jerk executive, Tae Ik looks for her frantically until he finds her in the hole in the woods. I personally love a good worrying-and-searching-for-someone-they-say-they-don't-like-but-secertly-do scene, and this one was no exception. And, naturally, when they are forced to sleep together, Tae Ik notices how adorable Man Ok is. I think we all know where this is going! Let the love triangle begin!

Tae Ik and Hwang Jung Eum as Man Ok
I also want to add that the house in Full House Take 2 is amazing. I get why Tae Ik wants it, and is willing to act like a jerk as a pop idol to get it. Maybe Man Ok and Tae Ik will end up in it together in the end? I guess we'll wait and see.

The Innocent Man (Nice Guy) episode 16

Song Joong Ki as a happy Kang Ma Roo

Episode 16 of The Innocent Man (Nice Guy) was painful for me. From the very start of the episode when Ma Roo and Eun Gi (Moon Chae Won) relive the scene from episode 8 when Eun Gi confesses her deep love for Ma Roo and her desire to love him, live with him, and have babies together, my stomach started churning. I knew when I saw that scene the first time (a beautifully shot scene taking place in front of Ma Roo's old house in the pouring rain) that it was significant because there was something perfect about it. Ma Roo's fucked up face, Eun Gi's uninhibited release of her feelings, and the tense conditions surrounding their relationship gave birth to a emotionally charged moment framed by a beautifully crafted mise-en-scene. Thinking back to that and the tragedies that followed, made Eun Gi's marriage proposal seem more ominous than romantic. As they walked hand-in-hand and talked about the lovely idea of a wedding, honeymoon, and nine kids, I started to tear up (of course) because I could tell by the look on Ma Roo's face, and the previous 15 episodes, that things were not going to go like Eun Gi wanted.

Ma Roo tells Eun Gi that they shouldn't marry until after she regains her memories and can then decide if she wants to marry a jerk like him. At that moment, I thought, "Maybe Eun Gi will forgive Ma Roo even after regaining her memory. Perhaps she will see through his bad guy facade into the nice guy heart buried deep beneath his hatred and desire for revenge." I know that thought is dead wrong now, but at that time I was too distracted by the pretty picture in front of me and not thinking about what Ma Roo put Eun Gi through. She has every reason to never let him into her heart again. But before I get into that, I want to mention the fact that Jae Hee is a crazy bitch. I know I am stating the obvious right now, but when she said that giving up Ma Roo to become Taesan's Chairwoman is the thing that anyone on the street would say is right, I was, once again, baffled by her thought processes. Her brother appears to be involved with some deeper perversion in Jae Hee's life, though, so I am sure that there is some hidden reason why she is so twisted. I am certain we will find out more about her dark past.

Jae Hee
Later in the episode when Jae Gil approaches Ma Roo about him being very sick was where things started to get really painful. It became clear to me that Ma Roo is the guy who doesn't think is good enough for love or that he deserves happiness. Obviously he wants to live a normal life with Eun Gi, Choco, and Jae Gil since he was happy and truly smiling while listening to them cook and play in his house all together, but he thinks that he is an unlucky person because of the horrible things he has experienced in his life. I understood Ma Roo much more after this episode, and I cried just like Jae Gil did when Ma Roo was asking Jae Gil to let him have a little bit more time to enjoy his ridiculously happy life. Why can't Ma Roo just live normally like most other people? I guess it's not what he is destined for.

Lee Kwang Soo as Park Jae Gil. I cried like this!
The most gut wrenching scenes begin, though, after Eun Gi faces her most painful memory and recalls that it was Ma Roo who was in the other car that she collided with and that Ma Roo tricked her into loving him in order to get close to Jae Hee. I was both proud of Eun Gi for becoming her strong-wiled self again and feeling nauseous for Ma Roo because I know now that he loves her, but that she can't forgive him because she was raised not to trust anyone. Eun Gi let her guard down for a fleeting moment with Ma Roo, and he trampled over her heart while showing no mercy. As the episode came to a conclusion we saw Ma Roo trying desperately to continue to enjoy his brief bliss with Eun Gi, while she had the spark of hatred gleaming in her eyes. Which, frighteningly, popped open at the very end while the two were kissing in the park. As the music turned form romantic to menacing, I began to prepare myself for the awesomely dramatic road ahead.
